New Shellharbour Hospital
& Integrated Services

The New Shellharbour Hospital & Integrated Services project is the largest win in the history of New Edge Group thus far. Head Contractor Besix Watpac, appointed New Edge Group to undertake the $39.2m (excl. GST) D&C mechanical services package in a landmark win. This win highlights the incredible work the New Edge Group team have created in developing a trusted-partner relationship with Besix Watpac, and bolsters extraordinary strength in our health market sector capability.

 

Overall, the Federal and NSW Governments have contributed over $780 Million to deliver the new and improved health care services for the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District and Health Infrastructure.

 

The contemporary, fit-for-purpose facilities will comprise a new 6-level, 40,000m2 GFA hospital with rooftop plant and multi-deck carpark. It will provide the majority of emergency, critical care, acute, sub-acute, and non-admitted services and be the specialist elective surgical services centre with state-of-the-art theatres.

 

The community will be rewarded with an expanded emergency department, specialised elective surgery services, rehabilitation and aged care services, acute medical services, expanded mental health services, maternity services including midwifery-led clinics, doctor-led clinics, midwifery group practice (MGP) clinics and pre and post natal services (birthing will remain at Wollongong Hospital due to the specialist services and staff that are required to maintain a safe birthing facility), new drug and alcohol unit, renal dialysis, and outpatients care services as well as increased car parking and improved public transport links.

 

The Hospital floors will operate with the following services:

 

Level 00    Perioperative Service, Mental Health, SSD, Back of House, Loading Dock, Plant & Food Services

Level 01    Acute Mental Health IPU, Emergency Department, Medical Imaging and Pathology.

Level 02    Whole of Hospital Workspace Hub, Ambulatory Care, Retail and Pharmacy.

Level 03    Surgical IPU, ICU/Cardiology IPU, Ambulatory Care and Renal.

Level 04    In-Patient Unit (IPU), Rehabilitation/GEM Unit and Plant.

Level 05    Medical/Surgical IPU and Acute/GAP IPU.

Level 06    Plant and Equipment.
